Village of Neosho Statement Regarding Former Clerk/Treasurer Charges

STATEMENT

FROM:                 Village Board

                                Village of Neosho

RE:                         Deanna Braunschweig

DATE:                    March 16, 2026

The Village of Neosho is a victim of a serious and severely damaging crime, allegedly committed by its former clerk/treasurer, who has been charged with four felonies. The Village applauds the efforts of the Wisconsin Department of Justice and the Dodge County Sheriff’s Department for their thorough investigation of the matter and for issuing charges. We look forward to justice being done in this criminal proceeding.

The Village faces financial challenges resulting from the embezzlement of substantial funds. The Village is pursuing all avenues that may lead to recovery of the stolen funds. We realize that just as the Village government is a victim of this crime, every taxpayer of the Village is a victim too. We will not rest until we have explored every possible means of recovery from this heinous crime.

Because the case is pending in Dodge County Circuit Court and further remedies are being considered, the Village cannot share additional information at this time.

The legal process must run its course, and these issues are tried in court not in casual conversation. Please direct any questions you may have to our newly retained Village Attorneys, Municipal Law & Litigation Group, specifically Attorney Eric Larson, who can be reached at [email protected].
